Rockstar Anirudh

Anirudh Ravichander, is an Indian film composer and singer who primarily works in Tamil cinema. He has also worked in Telugu and Hindi. Born to veteran actor Ravi Raghavendra, Anirudh made his debut in the music industry in 2011. He has since become one of the most popular composers in South India and is one of the best-selling recording artists in India, with an estimated 20 million units sold worldwide. He has won 9 South Indian International Movie Awards and won became the first musician to win the Chennai Times Most Desirable Man 2017. From his debut flick 3 (Moonu), to the upcoming Vijay-starrer Master, Anirudh took his internet audience on a musical journey, as he dished out hit numbers like "Why This Kolaveri Di" , "Oh Penne", "Aaluma Doluma", "Marana Mass" and "Kutti Story" from eight years in his career. All he had was a small keyboard but once the composer took off, there was no stopping the "Rockstar", as he is popularly known in Kollywood.

Early Life

Anirudh born on 16 october 1990 in chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Anirudh was a part of a band in school called Zinx. At the age of 10, he started composing music. He did his schooling at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan, one of the most prestigious educational institutions in Chennai. He graduated from Loyola College, Chennai in 2011, which according to him was just a back up in case his music career did not take off. Anirudh learnt classical piano from Trinity College of Music, London. He also learnt Carnatic music, and was part of a Carnatic fusion band.

Movies

The viral song "Why This Kolaveri Di" from 3 (2012) made him an overnight sensation at the age of 21 and Anirudh has since scored the music and sung for several movies across all major South Indian film industries. Along the way, the talented musician has also bagged numerous accolades, including multiple SIIMA Awards and Filmfare Awards (South). The movies in which he worked as music composer includes 3, Ethir Neechal, David, Vanakkam Chennai, Irandam Ulagam, Velai illa Patathaari, Maan Karate, Kaththi, Maari, Naanum Rowdythan, Vedalam, Thangamagan, Remo, Rum, Vivegam, Velaikaaran, Agnyathavaasi, Thaana Serntha Kootam, Kolamaavu Kokila, Petta, Jersey, Thumbaa, Gang Leader, Darbar, Dharala prabhu and Master. Notable film credits as a composer include Velaiyilla Pattathari (2014), Kaththi (2014), Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (2015), the Ajith starrer Vivegam (2017), Rajnikanth starrer Petta(2019) and the Suriya starrer Thaanaa Serndha Koottam (2018).

Why he is my Inspiration?

From his first movie, he made an impact as a music director all over the world. Moreover he hasn't delivered any flop albums. This taught me to be consistent in my work. His simplicity, down-to-earth character towards other technicians and friends, taught me to be the same towards my colleague. I got an interest in singing due to my father and anirudh. Apart from singing, I am trying to be a pro pianist . His hardwork, chill attitude, agility, erudity, precocious mind made me to become his fan. More than being a fan, he is my inspiration now and forever.
